Podiatric Imaging

Podiatric imaging is a medical imaging specialty associated with diagnosing the abnormalities and conditions affecting the foot and ankle. Owing to the constant use and complex anatomy, foot and ankle are more prone to injuries and various disorders. Appropriate diagnosing is important to arrive at correct treatment plan and the imaging techniques of foot and ankle is called as podiatric imaging.

Several techniques and procedures are used in foot and ankle imaging which include radiography, arthrography & tenography, computed tomography (CT), CT arthrography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), MRI arthrography, and ultrasonography. The state-of-the-art interventional techniques assist in diagnosis and treatment of various problems of the foot and ankle including congenital and developmental disorders, infection, trauma, tendon and ligament disorders, neuropathy, diabetic foot problems, arthritis, metabolic bone disease, osteonecrosis, osteochondritis, and tumors.
